A big holiday and a big card to say a Big Thanks! – Thanksgiving Card

Thanksgiving is the holiday when we gather with family and friends to celebrate our blessings. A big holiday needs a big card. So send your Big Thanks to your friends and family this holiday season.

Big Thanks Thanksgiving Card Instructions

This is A9, which is a full sheet of Paper-Papers, Reich Aveo, Brown Sugar, a light gold brown, paired with Stardream Metallic, Pure Gold. It is scored in the middle and folded. The Pure Gold buffers the Brown Sugar from the Crush, Olive. The Pure Gold is a transition color that allows more color and vibrance to be added to the card. The Pure Gold is 4″ x 6″, centered and layered under the 3.25″ x 5.25 Olive, leaving the extra margin at the bottom. Refer to the photos. More color is added with a subtle Mohawk Loop, Antique Vellum, Chili, a soft bold red.

The square is die cut using Cheery Lynn, Mexican Tile. The inside square is a separate die cut that can be included, used inside, or saved for another project.

This card just used the outside 4.5″ square frame that is turned on the side and left open inside to show the greeting, stamped with StazOn. A soft gold 1.5″ wide ribbon is looped through the square and up over itself and back down again. It is 11″ long; cut it longer and trim the ends. A smaller and darker .5″ gold ribbon is added on the top over flowers from Jolee’s Boutique, or any that you love.

The stamp was small enough that the Chili filigree frame could be centered along the bottom of the Olive. Everything is ScorTaped together except the small gold ribbon which also has glue added. Cosmic Shimmer Glitter Glue was used on the ribbon and the back of the Chili square.

The A9 envelope is Superfine 80T Eggshell, Soft White with a Gold Foil Lining, adding for extra flash.

Many of the colors from different manufacturers blend across the color lines for harmony, letting you add more color than you would expect on one card. The big A9 cards are especially good for letting the base color be a background canvas for the accent color, the Chili. Most of the papers here are matte, so the Fine Gold stands out sharply. It is pearlescent and iridescent which shimmers from any layer it is placed in.

The Aveo, Brown Sugar, is an exciting tree free paper made from sugar cane. Along with the Crush, Olive, you save the planet while making great projects. It is made from 90% sugar cane stalk remnants and 10% textile linen/hemp remnants. Sounds sweet and is sweet to work with. The paper has lots of body so it scores and folds well. It pairs environmentally with the Crush, Olive which is made with organic olive residue to replace up to 15% of virgin tree pulp. Crush makes 9 shades that are produced using 100% green energy and ultimately reduces the carbon footprint by 20%.

The Chili is not a translucent vellum; it has a robust body, a double thick cover stock, that die cuts well , an important factor for those of you that like the process. Notice how intricate the die is and how well it cut. The paper handles anything from letterpess to stamping and is acid free, chlorine free / FSC and Green-e-certified. FSC means it is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. The Chili is also 50% PCW ( post consumer waste )made with windpower electricity.   Who knew you could do that? For those of you who like saving the earth while you craft, this card offers lots.
