Be Yourself Card

Be yourself, everyone else is taken. I don’t know who said that first, but it is worth repeating. In today’s busy time it is good to take a moment to celebrate what is uniquely ours, and to celebrate someone special. Don’t you love those from Quikutz, Anime Birds 4X4 Cutting Die? You would want to price shop for it; it is an older die, and if you can’t find that one any animal die will do. Just turn one of the animals the other way, or help them plant their feet firmly in the clouds, where dreams do come true. This is nice for graduates, or other special events you are celebrating.

The paper is Poptone Gumdrop Green, with a smooth vellum (not translucent) finish. The green is a spring green and goes with all the colors from its own line, made by French Mill, as well as other lines of paper. This is a matted paper that die cuts well and will print well with both laser or ink jet. It is cut to 8″ x 9.25″, scored and folded in the middle lengthwise. This leaves the final card at 4″ x 9.25″ fitting perfectly into a #10 envelope, which is large enough to add something extra for a new graduate. The birds are Basis Light Yellow which is an archival paper with an antique vellum finish (not translucent, just smooth), that is also suited for lithography, digital, and as well as screen printing.

The card was laser printed with the words “Be Yourself” on it in Broadway font at 72 point first. I had to move my margins around a few times to center it in the middle of the card. My margins were adjusted from the top 1″ and left 0.75″. It may take a few tries but a test print would be suggested. The line that is under the “Be Yourself” is a 0.25″ dark maroon glitter ribbon backed with ScorTape. The birds are glued on as well. Once you get the printing of the “Be Yourself” or other message you want to send this makes for a easy card that can be made for other occasions. This project welcomes summer through the colors that were chosen but can be easily changed. So just be yourself and make a card for that special someone.
