This holiday season send a Christmas Card full of love and joy! Sending it to friends and family this season is sure to bright up their day. Learn all about making this Christmas Card below.
Merry Christmas to everyone. Santa is always a welcome guest: leave some cookies and milk out to make his night special also. The product links are listed in the materials section. Use what you have. The sleigh and reindeer link is what I used: it comes with 1 deer. Not all of the small holes cut, but they did emboss, which I like better. My products are older, so I looked for what was similar. Be sure to reference the photos and add your own touches. Use what you have.
The FAV Shimmer, Hinted Gold, A9 envelope will hold a full sheet of 8.5-inch x 11-inch of Curious Metallics, Red Lacquer 111lb cover, scored and folded in half. I trimmed off 1/8-inch from the long side so the final sheet is 8 3/8-inch x 11-inch to loosen the fit. My dies cut and released well with the heavy paper.
Instructions for Christmas Card:
- Cut 2 of the sleigh using Curious Metallics, White Silver 111lb cover.
- Cut 2 of the reindeer using FAV Shimmer, Hinted Gold 92lb cover.
- Cut one Merry Christmas die using Curious Metallics, Red Lacquer 111lb cover. Glue the die cut to a 3-inch x 8.5-inch piece of FAV Shimmer, Hinted Gold 92lb cover. Add some 1/4-inch ScorTape on the sides and bottom of the Hinted Gold. Add 2 strips of tape on the right. I left the top open to add an envelope. Add this last so it stays clean.
- The front: cut a piece of Silhouette Double Sided Adhesive Sheet to 8.5-inch x 3.5-inch. Referring to the photo, place the adhesive sheet and pull the backing.
- Place one set of sleigh and reindeer on the backing. If you place the reindeer first, with the antlers 1/8-inch from the top. The sleigh is 7/8-inch from the left and 1/2-inch from the bottom. Practice where they go before pulling the backing. The sleigh is angled at about 30 degrees if you want to draw a line under the adhesive sheet. The first set of die cuts keeps the snowflakes from getting under the sleigh and reindeer.
- This next step is adding the snow. It is not just Buffalo Snow Flakes, but the first and last layers are.
- Pour on some Buffalo Snow Flakes and tap off the excess.
- Use the Q-tips to cover the snowflakes with Pearl Ex, 650 Micropearl. This actually covers the Red Lacquer. it is also messy; wipe your hands as needed.
- Tape together 2 sheets of copy paper so it is larger than the card. Place the card on it, open. Use a 3rd sheet to cover the card down to the snow line, covering some of the deer. Place the set up on a sheet of newspaper, outside, and spray it with Krylon Spray Adhesive. Bring it inside and pour on fine white glitter. Brush the glitter off the sleigh and reindeer. Repeat this until there is opacity where the adhesive sheet is placed. You would need at least 2 tries.
- Your last spray adhesive layer will be another layer of Buffalo Snow Flakes. Now add the second set of sleigh and reindeer. I used a fine tip eyeliner to add some brown on the right neck of the reindeer. A hint of dimension. This is optional.
- Change out the copy paper and leaving only the snowflake area showing, take it outside and spray it with Krylon US-Resistant, clear, and glossy. Spray it about 6-inch from the surface and let it mist down. Do this from all 4 sides, on each pass. Do not spray directly on the paper. Repeat this at least 3 times, until the snow and glitter doesn’t come off.
- Referring to the materials and the photos, add the gold ribbon, snowflakes, and the glass half rounds.
- Add the sentiment inside the card and trim the overage on the right side.
- You are done. Enjoy!
