America is the land of the free because of the brave. This year celebrates July 4th with a simple card with a touch of flash. This dazzling 4th of July Card is sure the best way to celebrate with friends and family! The die cut is from Tim Holtz Alteration, Old Glory, and it is a classic. The card is made with Crush, White Corn, 92lb cover, and the matching A9 envelope. Keep referring to the photos.
Instructions:
- Using the 8.5-inch x 11-inch sheet of White Corn 92lb cover, print it with the song “America” (My Country ‘Tis of Thee). The words for the song “America” (My Country ‘Tis of Thee) were written by Samuel Francis Smith in 1831, but the melody is much older and has been used for songs in many countries. It was first sung in public on July 4, 1831, at a children’s concert at…

- Score and fold the card into half, which fits into the White Corn A9 envelope.
- Die cut Old Glory in the red, blue, and gold: PopTone, Wild Cherry, 62lb cover, Plike, Royal Blue, 122lb cover, and Stardream Metallic, Antique Gold, 105lb cover. Assemble the flag. I hand cut the Blue Plike section and used White Corn 81lb text for the star.
- Make a tiny pencil line 3-inch up from the bottom on the right side and another 2″ on the left side. Mark a very faint line between the 2. Add a line of American Crafts, 3/8″ Glitter Tape, Rouge across the line. I used a 6″ long piece of the red tape and trim it back. The actual finished length is 5 5/8″. Underneath the red tape put a piece of ScorTape, 1.5″, and trim it back also.
- When you die cut the flag you also get sets of stars; I used the gold and the red. I started with the gold ones and put them 1/2″ from the right with the tip of the star over the red tape. The stars are not attached where they overlap the tape. You can make different designs with the red stars in the second row. There are a variety of shapes you can get by changing where the red stars line up under the gold.
- Place the assembled flag on a 6″ piece of ScorTape (or Silhouette Double Sided Adhesive Sheet), trim the edges and cover it with the pearlescent ultra fine holographic glitter. I found a couple of brands and listed them in the materials list. I put them in a clear plastic container that is 6″ wide so the card fits inside the container for easy application.
- Add the Sticko Large Black Foam Alphabet Stickers, 104 Pieces, Alpha Black Foam (Walmart).
- I printed the inside too light and reprinted it on White Corn Text, trimmed it a smidgen, and used 1/4″ ScorTape to attach it at the center and the edges. Cosmic Shimmer Gilding Flakes, Gold Jewel was applied the tape and showed at the edges.
- Enjoy!
