A few colors and a bright red can make an outstanding card. This dream tag card is super easy. Some projects do themselves: you start and the pieces keep suggesting more ideas. Learn how to make your very own below.
Instructions for Dream Tag Card
This is a 3 pocket card, so you can add personal items into the pockets. The main card is made with Curious Metallics, Ionised: cut the card to 6.5″x 11″ and score at 6.5″, with the short side as the front flap. To make the flap longer, cut a piece of Remake, Black Midnight, into a 6.5″ square. Before attaching it to the back of the front flap, emboss the Ionised with a texture plate. The one used here is an old Cuttlebug folder that has diagonal lines: use your favorite. Notice it didn’t cover the entire flap, leaving a nice design space along the left side. After embossing, refer to the photo, and cut the Ionised front flap on the diagonal. Now attach the Black Midnight. Using 1/2″ ScorTape, attach the top flap on all 3 sides: add the tape to the back of the embossed, Ionised, flap, slide the Black Midnight up to the fold and push down on the flap, aligning it carefully along the left side as you go. You can trim the sides later if you need to. The bottom flap is only attached on the side and bottom, leaving a pocket for the Dream Tag. The front is a lot of design for just a little effort.
Now do the inside: add a Curious Metallics, Red Lacquer, pocket that is 2 1/8″ x 6″. Using 1/2″ Scor-tape on the sides and bottom, leave the top open for a pocket. Center it, leaving an equal space along the sides and bottom. Make a card insert, from Black Midnight cut to 4.25″ x 5″, with a triangle pocket of Shine, Pearl White. A few small butterflies in red adds some color and a soft touch to the card. The butterflies are scrap red that works in your punch. In the photo, it is sitting on the top, but it slides into the red pocket; there is lots of space in both pockets for extra personalized mementos. The Dream Tag is 3″ x 4 3/8″ of Shine, Onyx, and tucks into the front card pocket; the Ionised pocket. Angle the corners and add a hole at the top To complete the old joke,” what is black and white and red all over”, add a newspaper photo and a glitter word. Use some spray glue on the back of the newspaper and finish with some spray acrylic. Add a little gel pen outline to the newspaper photo and some ribbon. If you have a black and white photo of someone you love, you can use that. The Onyx and the Ionised harmonize; the Onyx is a little darker with undertones of blue.
The Onyx and Pearl White are by Shine, combining natural minerals and organic pigments with a wonderful luminous effect. The Ionised and Red Lacquer are by Curious Metallics, with an iridescent sheen from, have a mica infused coating on both sides. Both add a glow to your project and are archival. This contrasts with the Black Midnight, an unusual luxury paper line from 25% recycled leather fibers. The paper is smooth, matt, and very hardy, especially at 192 lb cover. It is produced using EKOenergy, the renewable electricity, and is FSC certified. This from the manufacturer, Favini’s, website: “Printability and Runnability: Every method of printing, embossing, punching, die cutting, creasing, laminating and UV varnishing is possible.” The inside pocket, made of Shine, White Pearl, is both laser and inkjet compatible. Low key color with a pop of red offers a card with lots of texture and shine. Enjoy!
