This Friendship Card is perfect for friends and family to whom you can share you love to! The best part about this card is that it is super simple and doesn’t have too many theatrics so it is perfect for anyone to make!
HOW TO MAKE
- Cut an 8.5″ x 11″ sheet of Kraft-Tone, Manila Yellow, 100lb cover to 7″ x 10″, then score and fold it in half. The final card is 5″ x 7″, which fits nicely into a Shine, (Light) Gold, A7 envelope.
- For the ground behind the trees, cut the Astroparche, Sand, 65lb cover to 2″ x 6.75″. The final image is 1.75″ tall. Use a 71/2″ circle die cut, or something similar, to help outline a hill shape. Cut it by hand and use ScorTape to align it evenly on the sides and the bottom of the card. Before you tape it down, refer to Step 3 and trace that shape.
- Cut two more stripes of paper from Stardream Metallic, Flame, 105lb cover and Stardream Metallic, Punch, 105lb cover. Refer to the photo, and using your Sand outline, cut that curve from the Flame and vary it just a little bit. Repeat this with the Punch. Trim the Punch so that it fits pleasingly on the Flame, leaving a little bit at the bottom for a sunset glow. Invert the shape so the curve mirrors the Sand and tape it down. Since it goes to the edge of the card, tape it down first then trim it as needed on the sides.
- Using a sheet of Shine, (Light) Gold, 107lb cover, die cut it with the WILLBOND Tree Cutting Die. The die is 6.25″ x 4.25″. It did not cut the cover weight well, even after several passes, so I used that to advantage. I used the Exacto blade to trim the easy bits, then I finally took my Tim Holtz Scissors and trimmed out large sections. It worked out better that way. It gave some depth to the layers.
- Use the tree die cut on the Silhouette Double Sided Adhesive Sheet, and the next step you finesse a bit. Remove the white backing, making sure the yellow backing still has the adhesive on it. Place it on the card front, offsetting it a little to the left. This will hold the (Light) Gold tree image on the card.
- Burnish the tree image with Cosmic Shimmer Gilding Flakes, Gold Jewel. You will see how much better the design looks when the top layer, the (Light) Gold) trees, are less dense then the adhesive layer that holds the gilding flakes. It lets the light come through the trees. Using a toothpick and Cosmic Shimmer Acrylic Glue, tack down any part of the image that still needs gluing.
- Enjoy! And send your craft to all your friends and family who will simple just love it!
