This is a lucky card to give your family and friends. You don’t have to be Irish to love 4 leaf clovers. So check out how to make this Golden and Green St. Patricks Day Card below.
Instructions for Golden and Green St. Patrick’s Day Card:
The PaperPapers Shine (Light) Gold, 6.5-inch square envelope is the guide for the size of the card. Since the 4-leaf clover is large hearts there needed to be at least 5 75” on the front of the card. The card is blank inside, but the bottom flap, that is on the inside and shows, is a continuation of the outside. Use what tools you have and make what adjustments you want. It unfolds vertically. Refer to the photos.
- Using the PaperPapers Shine (Light) Gold, 107lb cover cut the paper to 6.25 and score it at 5.75″ to leave the bottom border. To fold it I scooted the score down a tad and did another score line right beside it. Then I gently folded it back and forth.
- Using the blue painter’s tape I taped the front of the card to the back on piece of copy sheet on a portable hard surface. The purpose is to run the ScorTape design across the full 6.25 surface. I taped the card across the left top and across the R bottom where the lettering goes.
- Using ScorTape, 1/8”. 1/4” & 1/2″, tape lines diagonally lower left to upper right. I used a total of 7 lines and used the big one in the middle. I covered the full 6.25” of the card, front flap and across the inside border. Leave room for the wording, lower right. About 3”.
- Pull the front backing of the ScorTape and apply Cosmic Shimmer Gilding Flakes; Autumn Leaves & Golden Jewel. They are made by Creative Expression also found on Amazon.com. The container last forever as it takes so few.
- I don’t usually talk about burnishing, but now is time. I bought my burnishing sponge in 2014 and things change. I found it on Amazon. It bears repeating as you need the tool for the job. The following has the little tight sponge on the bottom for burnishing. It is the very one I used – one side sponge and one side burnisher:
Amazon.com: Ranger Inkssentials Rub-It Scrub-It Stamp Cleaning Pad 6″ x 6″ : Arts, Crafts & Sewing
The sponge has a soft not too flexible sponge on the top and the bottom is rougher texture. Reserve it for Gilding Flakes and it lasts forever; it is an investment. Sue Wilson of Creative Expression did it first, and here is he video. At about 4.25 min she uses the sponge but Ranger sells it now, the double sided one.

- As it turns out it is the easy part. Use 2P Basics, Glitter Paper, Green. 65lb cover. Cut the hearts for the 4-leaf clover. It is 4 hearts attached by one side to form the clover. Using a heart die cut, I used the one from Creative Expression, Fillables, Jewelled Heart, (2.0” x 2.5” die)
Sue Wilson Designs – Fillables Collection – Jewelled Heart (3dcartstores.com).
I would snap it up. If not used a similar size heart.
- To put the cutout design on the hearts use French Scroll: Martha Stewart Punches, Punch Around the Page, French Scroll. Ebay: MARTHA STEWART PUNCH AROUND THE PAGE FRENCH SCROLL 42-60050 | eBay. It comes with the longer punch. She has so many of these punch sets you can pick something else. Score down the middle of the heart. Put the heart in the punch as far down as you can. From back of the punch, you can see the white back of the glitter paper and adjust the side symmetrically. They are really cute.
- Using an appropriate size of ScorTape, tape one side of each Green Glitter heart. There are 4 of them. You can follow the photo of do what you want. Pull the tape backing and add some Cosmic Shimmer Acrylic Glue with a toothpick. Place them in a pleasing fashion to form a 4-leaf clover. Cute, yes?
- To make the curved stem I used Sizzix Easter Egg die 658691. It is discontinued. So, by comparison from the dimensions on Amazon, the large die in this cut will do. You can also freehand it by using the inside of a masking tape roll and adjusting it. Apply it with Cosmic Shimmer Acrylic Glue and a toothpick.
- Punch your tiny 4 leaf clover using 1” x 1.25” Used on Ebay and a new one.

Use a toothpick and some glue to put it where you like it.
- Add the word “irish” to the bottom right of the card. I used American Crafts, Thickers: Sentiment. The “h” was too long, so I just cut the bottom off.
- Carefully, using an Exacto blade or Tim Holtz scissors, cut the ScorTape so that the front is free from the back. You are done. Enjoy.
