It is a big and flashy card that is a lot of fun to both make and receive. So check out below on how you can make your own Golden Pop-Up Christmas Tree Card! It is super easy and fun to make!
The FAV Shimmer, Premium Gold envelopes 6.6-inch square sets the size of the card inside. Since it has a pop-up Christmas tree. I cut it a little smaller. The card is 6.25 inches square. Reference the photos and add your own touches. It is simple when you get to each step.
Instructions for Pop-Up Christmas Tree
- Cut the Christmas tree first. It is based on this one: Pop-up tree card – the easiest pop-up card ever – YouTube. Using the BURANO TRY-ME Pack, Spring Green, 92lb Cover, cut it to 5 1/2-inch x 7-inch. Fold the paper in half so that it is 3 1/2-inch x 5 1/2-inch. You are drawing lines on the backside. With the paper folded, draw a line at the left fold that is 1 inch wide (the tree will open to a 2-inch base).
Draw a horizontal line 1 inch up. Draw another horizontal line 1/2-inch up from the first line. The successive lines will be 1/4-inch. There are 12 spaces that are 1/4-inch. Draw a diagonal line from the upper left tree top to the top of the first 1-inch line. Draw a second line to the left of that 1/2-inch.
There are 12 cut lines and 6 have tape on the back. Every other one sticks to the paper and the others stick out to form the popup.
- Cut the FAV Shimmer, Premium Gold, 92lb Cover, 8.5-inch x 11-inch to 6.25 on the 8.5-inch side. This will leave you a 2.25-inch x 11-inch strip of paper.
- Score and fold the paper at 6.25-inch. To make the short side, the front of the card, wider, add the strip of paper left from step 2. Cut it to 6.5 inches and trim it after attachment. Cover the strip with Silhouette Double Sided Adhesive and pull the backing. Attach it to the front of the card. I lined it up with the back and pushed it down on the front after removing the backing. I added a layer of Cosmic Shimmer Acrylic Glue.
- Attach your greeting, in my case, the Merry Christmas, being careful not to touch the glue from step 3.
- Cover the glue on the added strip with Buffalo Snowflakes. You can use glitter. Use Krylon spray sealer. I put it on a sheet of copy paper. I covered the front of the card with wax paper and rubbed everything down.
- Using either the Paper-Papers 2PBasics Rustic KRAFT Brown Bag 30T or used brown bags from a local pharmacy, cover half a sheet of Silhouette Double Sided Adhesive Sheet, the long side with crumbled up brown paper. Cut a fun little slope to go across the bottom of the inside of the card. I left a little space on the left and sloped it down.
- Cover the back of the pop-up tree with ScorTape; both 1/2-inch and 1/8-inch. Some of the tree is glued to the card and some pop up. Apply the tape referencing the photos. Pull the backing, and add a little glue here and there, with a toothpick. and glue the tree to the center of the card. Put one side down, on the inside of the card, fold, and push the front of the card onto it.
- Add the snowflakes by adding glue dots to the center of the snowflake. Add the little pearl where the brown bag slope ends on the left.
- Add the penguin. I didn’t glue his feet down so they cast a shadow.
- Enjoy! It is as much fun to make as it is to give.

- Ebay.com, by Mulberry Paper: 5 Penguins penguin Emperor Handmade Mulberry Paper holiday Cards Christmas craft
- American Crafts, Thickers, Cozy: this particular package of lettering is only sold used on Ebay.com. I thought I would share that with you. So, I would go to your local Walmart and buy their lettering packages. The Christmas word itself is 5/1/4” long on a card that is 6 1/4” wide. So, keep that width in mind. I think Gold on Gold would be very pretty. Also check your local craft stores.
- Buffalo Snowflake, Iridescent. Check your local craft stores, Joanna’s Michaels, Walmart. I would call. You can also use glitter. You will notice I used glue before applying and spray sealer afterwards. I wouldn’t hesitate to unwind and few cotton balls and pull them really thin and apply them. I would test run that.
- Iridescent Snowflakes 2”. I probably bought them on Ebay.com. ‘Tis the season where they will have them in craft stores. It doesn’t have to be 2”. If they are small use more. Just scatter them around. I looked online, but they never say what size they are, so just go look at your local store.
- Kraft Text Paper, on Paper-Papers 2PBasics Rustic KRAFT Brown Bag 30T 8.5-x-11-inch – 100 Sheets per pack. I used the prescription bags from my Walmart’s pharmacy. Either/or; that is why there are so many small pieces.
