Perfect Red Paper for Chinese New Year Creations
Here’s another chance to celebrate New Years with red paper and gold foil. I’ve created two boxes that are used to pass money and gifts.
Red Paper and happiness
Different cultures, different traditions. Chinese New Year goes on for 8 days, starting with New Years Eve, the 7th of February (for year 2016). You can read more about the Chinese New Year from China Highlights Travel Guide. There are many traditions that are carefully followed, some very exciting. Red is a big portend of energy, good luck, and happiness. Money boxes are given in appreciation to bring another year of peace and safety. Each lucky recipient has a traditional amount that is given.
Here are two simple boxes. One has a lid that represents the monkey; the second has two packets, one folded and one that shows packet before folding. Very simple in the making, very special in the receiving.
PulsarProFX.com is where I purchased the foils and SM-330 is the laminator I used, turned it up to the 7 setting.
The designs were free, found on Pinterest; the small pocket is by ThriftyJinxy.com and the Monkey box is by Kutchuk.com. The foiling makes the designs stand out on Paper-Papers, Stardream Metallics: Jupiter cover stock, red paper. It is the perfect color to celebrate the New Year.
Enjoy.
