Envelope Size Chart
Envelopes are most commonly converted from the text/writing weight papers. Weight is important for many reasons. Thickness represents a nice quality and durability, but can also add to the weight of your mailing in which you may incur additional postage. It is important to determine the purpose of your project and potential weight of the complete mailing.

Business & Correspondence
Office / Commercial envelopes, widely used for a variety of business and personal correspondence. Commercial and Side Seam flap styles are ideal for machine insertion. Wallet flaps provide a large area ideal for imprinting. Square flaps are contemporary, but not recommended for machine insertion.
In the United States the popular business envelope is the standard #10 Envelope. With options such as Square Flap, Policy and commercial flap - it has become popular for both commercial and social designs. Booklet Envelopes
Constructed with side seam, is ideal for annual reports, brochures, sales materials, and a variety of printed material. The open side makes it acceptable for automatic insertion and ideal for volume mailing.

Catalog Envelopes
Catalog envelopes, constructed with center seam which makes them more durable for mailing heavy-weight materials. Made for catalogs, large booklets and other heavy enclosures. These envelopes can not be processed through inserting equipment or run through a laser printer.

Announcement Envelopes
Announcement envelopes, also called A-style. This popular design is ideal for stationery, photographs, greeting cards, small booklets, and much more. Designed with side seam construction and contemporary square flap. A-Envelopes and Baronial Envelopes can share common sizes - example: 5-1/2 Bar is the same dimension as A2, the defining differences are the flaps and the side seam construction. If these factors are not important to your project, then best to move forward with the envelope offering the most solutions for your active project.
