Summer is the season of blooming flowers, but waiting for them to grow can feel like an eternity. Why not make your own stunning paper flowers instead? This fun and easy tutorial from NS Creative Collections will show you how to craft beautiful paper flowers that you can enjoy year-round.
How To make Paper Flower Petals – Step By Step Guide
- Draw a perfect circle using a CD or something perfectly round.
- Cut out the circle you drew using a pair of scissors.
- Fold in half like a taco.
- Fold in half once more.
- Using a pair of scissors cut about two-thirds of the way in, these will be the petals for your flowers.
- Using your scissors, round off the edges of the petals.
- Unfold half way and cut about half way down in the center.
- Unfold again so you can fully see the flower.
- On one of the sides you didn’t cut half way down you will also cut down half way. This should leave you will three of the centers halfway cut down.
- On the fourth side you will cut to the very center.
- Using your finger, place it towards the center of the flower and wrap the paper around your finger to create a cone.
- Once you complete the cone add a little glue to the edge so it doesn’t fall apart.
- Using a pencil or pen put it just under the petals and press them out between your finger and the pencil.
- Using your favorite coloring products (markers, crayons, colored pencils, etc.) draw the inside of the flower so it looks like the stamen.
Create the Stem for the Paper Flower:
- Cut a paper you want to use for the stem to 3.5 inches x 11 inch.
- Along one of the corners roll tightly the entire piece of paper.
- Once you have completely rolled the paper at the other edge you will have a little flap left. Put some glue on the flap and secure it to the stem.
Make Leaves for the Paper Flower:
- Cut a paper to the size of 2 inch x 8.5 inches.
- Fold in half short ways to create a rectangle of 2 inch x 4.25 inches.
- Fold in half again long ways to create a rectangle of 1 inch x 4.25 inches.
- Using a pencil draw out how half of the leave is going to look, but make sure to draw it pushing out from the long folded side.
- Using a pair of scissors cut out the design of the leaf.
- You have created 2 leaves.
To put the Paper Flower together:
- Using a hot glue gun, put some glue on the bottom of the flower.
- Attach it to the top of the stem.
- Put some more hot glue on a spot of the stem you would like another flower petal to be. Then at the bottom flower petal put it against the hot glue hold together for a moment. (Repeat twice more)
- Add some hot glue on the stem where you would like the leaves (generally towards the bottom is best) then attach the two leaves to the stem.
- Create multiples of these flowers to create bouquets for friends and family.
