Reich Savoy 100% Cotton: Soft Grey 236lb DT Cover

This album practically makes itself, keeping memories to share later with family and friends. This was a 100th birthday, however there are many other occasions that are special: weddings, new family members, graduations, trips, or just gatherings of special friends. Don’t forget the most special journey of all, your journey through life. Which what this album evolved into, with friends and family writing memories on the Reich CT Translucent Vellum, in Platinum, a soft color that has become a favorite for its ability to blend with any color and being sturdy enough to die cut. The cover is Reich Savoy, 100% Cotton, Soft Grey, in the heaviest available weight: 236lb cover which was hand fed through a laser and foiled in blue. The Zutter allowed for fast binding with a 3″ white coil. There are 30 pages in this album (60 if you count both sides), so by the time all items were added, the full 3″ coil was filled. For those that got the pictures and letters in before the party, the pages got a little more attention; later, just cards got mounted into many of the pages. Because so many people were going to be handing the album, Zutter Acrylic 9″ squares were used as an additional second cover, which also had to be zuttered, showing that is fairly sturdy little tool. It is optional, since the Savoy, Soft Grey, is quite sturdy. Albums also look great with the traditional hole punches and binder rings.

The pages were cut to 8.5″ square leaving a nice acrylic border around the edges. The pages were primarily FAV Shimmer: Pure Silver and Blue Sodalite. Since I like to mix metals, the first page lead off with Stardream Metallics, Copper, and the odd page or two of Shine, Gold. The pages were accented with colors that set off the photos, giving you a chance to use up some of your scraps. Refer to the photos to see some of these papers; the album eventually gets colorful.

The very special addition was the Platinum Vellum on which each guest wrote memories during the party. Some pages have 2″ of this vellum taped to the inside edge in case it was needed to write the names of the people in the photos. The album was coiled before the party so that items could be added quickly. Seeing it already completed was a great incentive for guests; it inspired lots of the guests to send more photos and cards.

Most page accents and designs were from Jolee’s Boutique, Tim Holtz, Martha Stewart’s butterflies and punches with envelopes to match the pages for holding smaller tags and cards.

Enjoy the party.
