Spooky Paper Card

This Spooky Paper Card is the perfect thing to make this time of the year! The best part about this card is that it is sparkly and a spider on it too!

They are less scary on shiny, pretty paper. The card fits into a Black 7.5 in. square envelope, so the card is 7″ x 7″; the big decoration takes up space.

For the body of the card, I used Orange Gold Fusion cover, printed with a design used previously, so I reached in the storage for a sheet that had been printed.  Printing is optional, and I used an inkjet; the design is included if you would like to do that.  The border was cut off so more Lavender would show on the inside of the card. Cut the Orange Gold Fusion to 7″ wide and score it at 7″, leaving a front fold of 2.5″.

Cut a 7″x 7″ square of Lavender cover and attach it over the entire front with ScorTape. On the inside, ScorTape a 3″ x7″ piece of Sunflower cover, as shown as photos.  That was used because it is easy to print on, and it looked great with the foam letters that were actually used.

Using the Glitter, Punch cover, cut a piece of 6″ x 6 3/8″ paper and use it as background for a piece of 6″ x  5 1/2″ piece of Onyx cover. Before attaching the Onyx, die cut a circle from the center.  The circle is 4.25″ and is offset to one side for interest; the circle is .25″ from 2 sides.

Referring to the photos, arrange the two papers so that there is a border of about 3/8″ with a thin line of the other 2 sides.  The borders are not exactly even – the thin ones are, and it appears OK because of the shiny paper.

Attach the Onyx to the Glitter with ScorTape and glue. Die cut Intense Gold cover, with the Memory Box Die 98401, Tiffany Frame, and glue it down close to the bottom, centering it side to side.

I toyed with turning the spider the other way, so that card opened side to side and the inside lettering was sideway.  Do it either way, but chose before you put on the frame and the spider.  I put the lettering on before I put the spider on, since it needs to dry overnight. I chose 2 kinds of lettering: Sticko Alpha Stickers, Large Serif Foam, Black  and American Crafts, Maggie Holmes, Carousel, 353 Piece Thickers Happy Mint Green Foam ( this is gold, that is the search title). The letters are self adhering, repositionable, and after they have been in place awhile they become much more permanent; I don’t add more glue and I have not had them fall off.  I made the letters a little uneven, since the black letters are made a little oddly, as you can see from the “p”, so I just went with it. It seemed to fit Halloween. To glue the spider on, pack the underside of the spider, this is hollow, with the 1/8″ foam, glue dots.  Add extra glue inside the bottom of the spider, inside the hollow, before you start.  I used about 9-10 and stacked them on top of each other adding Cosmic Shimmer Acrylic Glue between the dots. Put a dot of glue on each leg, as well as the dots, put the spider on the card, and let it dry overnight.  It is cute as a bug.
