Celebrate New Years Card

This is a simple card to celebrate a wonderful New Year, offering up good wishes and cheer for all of your family and friends. It is pretty fast, easy, and charming. It is super easy to make and we hope you enjoy making it!

The FAV Shimmer, Hinted Gold, A9 envelope has a soft white base under the gold shine, matching wonderfully with the Crush, White Corn, 81lb text, which prints so perfectly.

While the photo design was a free clip art from Graphics Fairy who provides free artwork in the public domain I wanted to add some style to it by adding some words and reversing the image for my personal preference. I loved the image and since it was such a beautiful image I made sure to also make one without the wording so that it could be used throughout the year for any occasion.

The font was Windings 3. But make sure to use one that you would like.

Instructions:

1. Start with a sheet of Shine, Blue Satin, 92lb cover. This fits perfectly into the Hinted Gold, A9 envelope. It makes a big splash and is so effortless.

2. Using your darkest settings, print the Blue Satin with the fancy design. I used the manual tray. I also set the laminator to the highest setting and run from all 4 sides and let it cool before peeling off the foil.

3. Print the inside holiday message using Crush, White Corn, 81lb text. Trim it 1/2″ on all 4 sides.

4. I personally spray almost everything with spray acrylic sealer, since the card gets handled a lot. Hold the can over the design at least 6 to 8 inches and let it mist down. Do this about 3 to 4 times. Let it dry.

5. Score and fold both sheets of paper. Use a piece of copy paper over the Blue Satin, when you use the bone folder to press on the fold, so that you don’t scratch the foiling. I scored it without the copy paper and put the design face down. Trim any excess from the sides if the fold wasn’t perfect.

6. With the Crush folded, apply 1/4″ ScorTape very close to the folds, on both sides. Also apply tape to the edges of the Crush. Take the backing off the tape, on one side, near the fold, and carefully place the message inside the Blue Satin, centering it, right up next to the crease. Correct placement will assure an even border of Blue Satin. You can undo the placement with Un-Du. Do this for each of the lines of ScorTape.

7. You are done; a flashy fun New Year’s card. Make one to keep. Enjoy!
